Property Division- Frequently Asked Questions

Property that is acquired by a married couple during the marriage, from between the date of marriage to the date of separation. There are three exceptions to this rule: inherited property, gifted property, and property acquired during the marriage with separate property funds.


Community property is divided fifty-fifty. It is important to accurately value the different community property assets and debts so that an equal division can be achieved.
