Child Custody- Frequently Asked Questions

Legal custody means all the decision-making for the child(ren).  Physical custody is who the children are actually with. 


It is very rare for one parent to have the child 100% of the time, and for the other parent to be ordered to never see the child. Whether physical custody is joint or full does not really matter in most cases.  What matters is the actual custody schedule, the timeshare each parent has with the child.
